A Taste of Soul
I created this book for those of us that love New Orleans so we can have a little of her soul with us as a companion in the city or to have by our side, no matter how far we may venture from her embrace.
I’ve photographed cities all over the world, but none have the mysterious unseen spiritual and emotional effects that New Orleans has when lingering in her streets, sitting in a dark corner, watching her through a window or just passing through one of her alleys. You can breathe New Orleans.
My aim was to capture the feelings and atmospheres found around every corner. I chose what to photograph by finding what I could also sense with my eyes closed before shooting the physical image.
In doing so, New Orleans gave me these images to accompany the particular feel and emotion I was documenting. My hope is that its palpable moods and magic come through for you too.
I thank her for posing so beautifully and trusting me with her heart.
The images in this collection have been chosen and published by The Rebel Poets of America - a publishing house dedicated to enhancing the world with books of art - from the written word in all its forms, to photography and the other visual arts.
